Question about guide rod color?

Can the guide rod be anodized, or its color changed to black in some other way the will be long lasting? Can it be ordered in black. Thanks for the help in advance. I want to order a rod and spring next week.

Anodizing is done on aluminum, and the rod is stainless steel. I bought come cold blackening chemicals just for stainless, and It was not durable at all.

I can make a rod out of a steel that can be blued, and can blue it using Blue Wonder's product. It looks nice but it is not a durable as a hot blue or rust blue. If you want this you could order it direct from me, but you would still need to get the spings from another source.

I have some Gun-Kote that I might try on my newly acquired guide rod (thanks, Don!). Then again, I kinda like the bling, so probably not. However, if you want to send me your guide rod, I'll Gun-Kote it free of charge. I can't guarantee that the finish will hold up, but I'll try.
