Question about "fat" and "thin" guide rods
What is the difference between the "fat" guide rod and the "thin" guide rod for the XD45acp tactical? Is one actually thinner? My intuition tells me it shouldn't be, that this is just referring a difference in weight. But pistolgear.com gives two options for recoil springs, one for stock or fat and one for "Don's" which includes the "thin" but not the "fat." Appreciate the help.

sorry, dumb question. I figured it out myself and am waiting on my DGR "fat" guide rod and several spring options.

Not a dumb question really. I tried to see if there was any difference but I was left somewhat stumped, seeing that it doesn't say how much the 'skinny' one weighs.

its supposed to cut down on muzzle flip
well.. if you think about it.. if you add the tung guide rod which is 4.6 oz and 3.1 more than stock that adds about 10 percent of the total wieght of the pistol thats is in the front now

Initially, when the Fat rod was released, your only spring option was the stock spring. The Fat rod did add a little weight, but it was more about the bling and buying beer for Don. The Skinny Rod, like the other DGR used everyday 1911 springs, giving you many options when it came to spring weights.
