They should work OK for stock spring weights. Heavier springs do not work well as the slide speed is already reduced along with muzzle flip and and you get ejection problems. Using the rod with heavier for recoil changes does not work, but using the rod to avoid a failing stock rod will work. But there is no double benefit.
