SC Guide Rod

Don

It's been a couple of weeks, and the SC XD-9 is on order.

How about those specs on how long, and the diameter, the guide rod will be. I've got a few ideas on springs. Let me know when you can get a chance.

It has finally settled in a work, but only just a little.
I was thinking that I was behind in reporting to you just yesterday. I am caught up on work at home, I should be able to dig out the specs tomorrow eve. Call me names if I don't!

From another thread:

If you shop for springs, you will see that there are a wide selection for the standard sized 1911, and the choice goes down as the barrel becomes shorter. And the complaints about operation go up as the barrel becomes shorter also. There is a narrow window of operation in a small pistol, and the XDSC seems to be just right as it is. So I am staying away from it.

What further complicates the spring choice in a striker fired pistol is that the recoil spring also acts to cock the striker. This means that it has to have a minimum force at the installed length and then progress to the full rating. It is a more difficult problem than just that of peak force, and very limited by the dimensions available. The factory did a good job on the SC spring.
So I have no plans for a rod for the sub.
