Don, the 24# is too much for my XD-9
Slide will not lock on the empty mag, even cut two coils off of the spring. I'll need to go lighter. I'm not worried about recoil, it's a 9mm for god's sake. What # do you recommend, 18?
I sent the pistol back to SA again as it was not going into full battery and is having light primer strikes with the round not firing. the pistol was hard chromed recently, but has 600 rounds plus through it in order to break it in.

The 24# spring for the Compact-1911 should be fine, especially with two coils cut. If it is a Commander-1911 then it would be too long. Are you sure of the spring model?
24# is pretty stout anyway, I use the 22# in mine with good results., an 18# spring would mimic the stock spring rate. Light primer strikes sure sounds like the chroming is rough or the striker spring is weak, but Springfield should get you squared away. |
