What to buy? Rod/Spring
I see here it must be a good idea to replace the factory rod and spring? So what is the perfect setup? I have a XD 40 4" and would like to get a spring and Don 's rod.
How many pounds is the factory spring set at? Thanks Troy |

I believe the factory springs are #17 or #18.
Though not a must do, Don's guide rod allows you to use different weight springs so you can reduce felt recoil to your taste and match springs to specific power loads. I have both a #22 and #24. Both do a good job of reducing felt recoil. I'm have the #22 spring in, I found I shoot really tight groups with the #22 springs. Not to mention the SS guide rod look really good in the XD. Heck I want to Hard Chrome my Barrel to match. I think it would be a nice and intimidating look. |

Rojas is correct on everything except the chrome barrel look.

Hmmm, for that bad-ass look, back-bore the muzzle with a 0.500" diameter so that it looks HUGE if it is pointed at you.

You can buy it here. As mentioned, the 22# spring is popular, however I have a 24# spring in my XD-40.

I do not stock any springs so XD-Gear.com is a great place to get both at once.
I have no idea what is allowed for IPSC, someone else will have to answer for that. (Thanks!) |
