I think the majority of the people interested in the SC-DGR are in it for the reliability more than changing the effects of recoil. I'm now on my second recoil assembly due to the weld coming apart (after about 3500 rounds), many other people have had a lot worse luck than that. It's all about peace of mind.
I had not remembered the SC assemblies failing, so I will need to rethink the need! If I can stay focused (sort of a AADD type here) I may be able to work out the springs.

Thanks so much for all the work and effort you put forth into experimenting with such a cool idea. Too bad really, it looked freaking awesome and you just know that you would have had a TON of buyers for the finished product. So close...

Thanks so much for the effort you have put forth. It is discouraging to hear the news. I have been lurking on this board for several months and keeping checking for any news on the SC version. I definitely would have been another customer to help tame the .40 snap.

Thanks again,

Hey Hooz, I had the same problem you did. I used an online program and the help of a Physics professor I know to help me work the numbers. I couldn't find an on the market spring that would work either. So I had my own made by a local company from a few designs. It worked fine for the 60 or so rounds that I put through them but never did any long term testing. Girlfriend got fed-up with me messing around with her gun. It was also getting expensive having one-off springs made and I have a few other expensive indulgences, namely Jeeps (Just Empty Every Pocket).

Just comparing barrel lengths.....i know it doesn't relate to spring requirements...a Star Firestar has an 86mm barrel length and the XDSC has a 76mm barrel.....the M40 Firestar is 40 calibre, so even with some cut coils, wouldn't it have enough power?? Or even an ASTRA A-80, A-90, and A-100 seires ave a 95mm barrel length......maybe, might work, wishful thinking??

It's all trial and error. So far many trials and mostly error.
