I got Don's prototype SC brass bushing in the mail today.

I talked to my Dad last night and he will have four prototype rods for me to try shortly. He didn't have any 303 stainless in the shop, but he said he'd find something close. He is going to do this all for free (time and materials), but I had to promise to let him shoot the gun next time he was down.

I also found some springs (18# and 21#) that look like they'll work in the SC without modification. Old School is ordering a few for me, so they should be here next week(?).

Things look to be progressing at a good pace. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted as the SC-DGR prototyping and testing continues!

I thought I'd post an update for those of you who are following the progress of the SC-DGR.

My Dad is currently making four prototype rods for me according to drawings sent from Don. My Mom is coming down for a visit in a week (She can't stay away from the Grandkids too long

), and she'll be bringing the prototypes with her.

As I said before... I already have the prototype brass bushing just sitting in a bag, mocking and taunting me.

The last I spoke with Old School, he was expecting my springs in yesterday or today. As soon as he gets them in (and I pay for them

), they will be on their way to me. I am getting both an 18# and a 21# spring, but for my initial testing, I'll be sticking with the 18# in my XD-9 SC.

In a nutshell, it looks like I'll get to start playing next week. If the initial shipment of springs work, and if Don gives me his approval, I'll probably get someone else involved in the beta test. I'm thinking that the 21# spring might be a perfect match for someone with an XD-40 SC, so we'll see...

OOOOH Lordy that's good news! I hope you succeed and if there is any testing I can do please let me know! I have both an XD-40SC and a XD-9SC just waiting for some DGR Lovin'!!!

Heh. Actually Dan, you were the person I thought of first when I contemplated expanding the beta test. Once I get the spring situation worked out, I'll be in touch.
