It's probably a busy time as it is without having to work on a new spring.

OK I thought iI would add some input here for Don. I was thinking if spring weight is an issue what about trying it from a different angle. Thinking your guide rods for the other pistols have a small flat button area on the end of the rod that fits against the barrel, I know this would be better with pictures. OK so instead of coil cutting or adding spring tension, what about leaving more metal on the end that fits against the barrel, follow me?. In other words like a built in spacer, or washer to take up space on the rod, creating more tension. With the right figures you could use an off the shelf spring either standard, or with cut coils. Or you could do it on the bushing end, instead of using a small bushing, make it longer to add tension. Im not an engeneer by any means and this may be a useless sugestion but I thought I'd throw it out there. I can possibly post some pics to illustrate what im talking about if it sounds plausable. Keep up the good work Don. TXPO

Red face Cost

Don,You're saying that a custom spring will probably be required and that the over head cost will be more than you can handel right now?Can a new-be to the forum make a suggestion? On other tactical forums when people have been interested in getting a particular piece of gear made but the was a minimum order the call was put out to see how mand people on the forum would be interested. We found in a number of instances that more than enought people were willing to go in and commit to buy so that a minimum order could be placed.Maybe a poll could be done to see how many people on this forum would be willing to purchase a DGR and spring combo at X price. Seems like a strong desire for them here so The market may accept an increase in price without effecting the demand curve (I minored in economics).Just a suggestion. I'll get back in my lane now.

Good questions. Many parts are a sure thing and it is just a issue of capital. For a spring there there are more issues that need trial and error to solve the problem, so samples need made and then tried and then refined and then tried again and then maybe abandoned. I know a lot of people would buy the product, but to make the known specs are still black arts and not a sure thing. I know what I think I need, but meeting those specs may only last a couple of hundred rounds and then no longer work, so is not a real solution. That is sort of the short version of the problem.

Just curious, and it's going to be very obvious I don't understand all the complexities here, but why can't we just use some sort of tool/device to measure the weight of the stock spring(s) system and then get one that's sufficiently durable in the same lenght/weight? Is the problem that the stock, captured spring system uses two springs that causes the weight of the spring to not be a linear compression force?

I too am waiting on a Service Guide Rod and spring but in defence of Don's effort we all need to make note that no one else has one either. Not Wolfe, not Canyon Creek, not anyone so I would say that it is not as easy as those of us waiting think and if it were Wolfe would have had one long ago.
