Don,

If you want to PM me with the OD of your 45 ACP guide rod, I can compare that to the ID of a few ISMI springs that I have here.

Take care,

I just read through all these pages of us asking and asking and asking poor Don if its out yet. I'm amazed he hasn't given up on the project and told everyone off. Give the guy a break. Hes working as hard as he can, but we all seem to forget that this guy has a life. His life is not just DGR.

Don, if you want I'll drive down with a case of beer and we can shoot your 50 BMG to get your mind free and clear of the subject. Hell, I'll go to winco and buy that 5 litter keg that they have there!

~Brian

BTW while we are drinking the beer and shooting the 50 BMG, we could eat some cougar cheese as well. Yup the one in the nice circle tin can! YUM!

No secret, right now roughly 0.312" since I was working with the 1911 springs, but the final dimension can be anything. The spring OD can be near 0.510". More details I can PM.

July 17 I am out, July 21 out too, August 18 thru 26 I am out, but almost any other day before or after is open. I can take a day off from work with no notice so that is cool. I don't have a lot of range distance but the boom is what it is about.

My house is a messy bachelor place (with the typical 18 half finished projects) but I have a spare room you can stay in so that part is cheap.

Seriously, let me know and it is a go!

Hello,

When I was at the local gun shop the day I picked out my 4" XD (.45acp), I asked the salesman if he had a different one in stock in which the guide rod wasn't protuding out, because I honestly thought the one I was holding was defective. (The picture included below is not my own, but shows what I pointed out to the salesman). It just sticks out like a sore thumb.

::thums down::

After he told me it was normal, I was disappointed as hell. That was until I found this thread and thought there was hope!!

I was reading a lot about how you have been trying different springs to try and get things to work. Would it be possible to just lathe a new rod based on the stock one that functioned with the stock spring and everything, but just changed the way the end of it looked?
Something that wouldn't really make the pistol perform any better, but at least make it more attractive?

Like this:

^^The end of that guide rod looks SOOO much better than stock.^^

Mine looks broken

Any more news on the DGR for the 45 service. I recently purchased my 45 service and love it. Two more fellow officers are in the process of picking up thier 45 service models and are interested in your guide rod as well. Thanks in advance

TexasPO you have made a good choice, I love mine and have fired it often. Several local Deputies have switched as well.

The problem with just chopping the guide rod on from the 5" tactical is that the stock service 4" guide rod uses two springs. It's not as simple as a direct replacement like the tactical models...
