For what I have come up with it is going to take a custom spring, and I will not be coming up with one $oon.

I'm coming in at the tail end of this and its probably old material, but have you used the flat-coil ISMI springs?

I have not, not sure if any of the prototype users tried them. If they did they did not report success. It may me something to try.
