Super-Tuck Deluxe Arrives, initial impressions
So my Super-Tuck Deluxe arrived in the mail today and I'm very excited. Already I have the feeling it will be one of my favorite carry systems. It is light but stiff (a good thing in my book, as it will 'wear in' to fit me) with a good amount of retention. I'll post updates once I've given it some out-and-about trials, but here are my pro's and con's so far (Just one man's impressions):
![]() ![]() Pros: 1) Great retention of my XD .45acp Service out of the shipping package. 2) Lightweight so it will not add to the burden of carrying. 3) Most comfortable holster I've worn to date. 4) My XD has SureSights on it and it both holsters and draws cleanly with no apparent contact between the holster and sights. 5) I can feel the space that the combat cut creates and am very glad I ordered that. It allows me to get immediate purchase on the firearm without fiddling around or changing my master grip. I do not notice any discomfort at all, so I personally have no reason to regret the combat cut. 6) Both drawing and reholstering may be done cleanly and the Kydex holds the holster open perfectly. I like the concept of having the comfort of leather with the durability/reholsterability of Kydex. 7) Once on, the holster stays very securely in place. It neither drops due to weight nor slides along your belt. It stays right where you want it, even during draw, which is very important in my opinion. Cons: 1) The stock clips are a little sharp on the corners. I gouged my current leather carry belt for about 1/3 to 1/2 of it's length (before I noticed it) as I mounted the Super-Tuck the first time. Cosmetically this makes the belt unwearable unless I deliberately beat it up more and go 'redneck casual' (I live in Kentucky, but that's not something I do). BE CAREFUL with the plastic clips against your belts or maybe dress the sharp edges a bit. I'm glad I ordered the V-Clips and I hope they work well. 2) I ordered it in 'Natural' but was shipped one in Black (see images above). I know it wasn't a mailing mix-up because my last name is written on the inside of the Holster (not sure I like that idea should I want to resell it later, but as nice as it is me parting with it, ever, is unlikely). The Black quickly grew on me so it's a non-issue, just something worth noting. 3) This may be a problem only experienced by the Black holsters, maybe not, but I noticed wear/scratch marks on the leather after holstering the (empty, checked twice) XD only once. The marks increased with each holster and draw. Personally, I view this as an important piece of equipment, not a work of art, so it doesn't bother me. It might be important to some though. 4) The form one may visit online to check the status of one's order still has a big blank space next to 'Status' and 'Tracking' for me. Obviously it got here and in about as much time as I expected so I don't care, but if you're one of those people who checks online to see when their package shipped or where it is every ten minutes don't rely on that page. Just wait, I don't believe you'll be disappointed. 5) Cost. It's far from the most expensive holster on the market but it's not the cheapest either. That said, the tuck feature makes it one of the most versitile on the market so it'll probably end up saving me a great deal of money in the long run. I consider it a good value, but some might be scared off by the price. I do say, if you get one, get the features you want. I feel the combat cut was worth it so don't let a few extra dollars scare you when you're spending this much already. Overall I'm very pleased with the product concept and execution. I won't have a solid opinion until I've worn it out-and-about some but I can already see myself recommending this holster to just about anyone, or everyone. There have been times even in writing this that I've forgotten I have a holster on so there is a great deal to be said for the comfort of this system. I can also see myself purchasing another in the future for other platforms, or maybe one in 'Natural' color so I can match the color to what would be the best camoflage/concealment for the day's attire. I've heard great things about Crossbreed's customer service, too, so I tend to do repeat business with companies I know are run by stand-up people (like SWR mfg.). I'd say if you've been on the fence about getting one, do it. I would be very surprised if you were disappointed. |

Looks good. I got one without the combat cut. Fits find and rides great. But I have noticed the combat cut would make draws a little better.
I have thought of cutting mine a little more like the combat cut. Not so much it would change the feeling of carrying it but enough where it would make the draw easier. 100% love the SuperTuck

I love mine... it's the best IWB I've used so far.

I've got the standard Super Tuck and love it. My G26 disappears when I'm wearing it. My only gripe would the the leather against my skin. But, then again, my skin is a little sensitive around my "love handles". LOL!
Great holster! I'd definitely buy again.

Yeah, I had a Comp-Tac IWB holster for my P7M8 and expected the Super-Tuck Deluxe to be similar, with similar problems. However, the Super-Tuck is totally comfortable while the Comp-Tac definitely kept me 'aware' of it's presence. I also noticed some 'droop' with the Comp-Tac I don't have with the Super-Tuck.
Up to this point my favorite holster had been (don't laugh) the Blackhawk Serpa Level 2. However, in the summer that is impossible to use as I need a nice jacket to conceal it. I love that I'll be able to use the Super-Tuck year round with even just T-shirt and shorts. EDIT: Btw, for the leather against skin issue I wear either a T-shirt or Under-Armor between the holster and my outershirt. I could probably fall asleep wearing it like that. I think they have pics on crossbreeds site showing the diff. Basically they cut extra leather off behind the grip. So when you draw the leather is less in the way of the grip and a easier quicker draw. On the flip side there is more gun grip touching your skin as opposed to leather. So it could possibly be not as comfortable.

Direct link to an image from Crossbreed's website. I hope they don't mind, but you should be going there anyway.
The holster to the top left is standard, the one to the bottom right has the 'combat cut.' I can just feel the leather on the top of my thumb as I take purchase of the grip with the combat cut but it doesn't interfere in any way. Based on these images, I imagine that with a standard cut one must work one's thumb between the leather and the grip in order to draw. This may work for some people or become easier with practice, but I'm personally glad I went with the combat cut. |

Just got my Super Tuck in today and have been wearing it around as I work. I'm in & out of airplanes all day as I do aircraft upholstery and I'm already sold on the comfort of this holster. Right out of the bag, it fit me well and as it wears in I'm sure it will only get better. Worth the money.
