Drilling through snap loks?

Mark,

Quick question: what space age material did you guys use for your snap loks?

Here's why I ask. I recently acquired a snap-side holster. After wearing it for a while, I was thinking of ways to really suck it onto my hip. My thought was to attach a snap lok to the back of the holster so that mid-way between the two belt loops, there would be a 3rd attachment to the pants, in addition to the belt.

After shortening the hook, the need exists to drill a new hole. How in the world does one drill through this material? I'd call it steel, but I've drilled through steel before. And it wasn't this tough. Any help you can lend would be great!

The attached pic shows what I'm trying to do...

Thanks...

Shouldn't be a major issue unless I fall on it. And if that's the case, I think the gun digging in would be more painful.

My guess would be hardened spring steel....its a very hard material.

I know nothing about crossbreed's manufacturing specs, but I do know the metal industry....the way the clips work, feel, the coating they have, and the lack of getting them in any color other than black, suggests they are heat treated to me...

That said, I would try a carbide drill or atleast a cobalt one.

Make sure you use a piece of wood behind the clip when drilling and good luck.....

wouldn't it have been easier to run the belt on the outside of the holster?
pass the belt from the back side thru the loop, around the holster, and thru the second loop.

Yep, and I'd need to go out and buy all new belts.
