Thumbs up Bacon on the Grill..

I've been hankering for a good BLT the last 3 weeks..
I usually go to the Angry Dog in Deep Ellum, Dallas TEXAS for my BLTs.

Angry Dog

But decided tonight to cook it at home.
I usually cook bacon in the oven because it is less messy that the stove top.
But even that makes a mess of the oven with the splatter..

Tonight I decided to cook my bacon on my new Weber Genesis grill that was given to me for father's day..

Started out with Wrights thick cut applewood bacon on indirect heat.
Indirect heat prevents flare ups and bacon burning, takes longer, but worth it.
Of course sprinkled a bit of coarse ground black pepper and Tony Chachere's Cajun seasoning on it on the grill.
Turned it every 5 minutes until done, about 20-25 minutes total.
I think the bacon dripping might of even helped season the new grill..

A few crappy iPhone pics of the process..

Getting things ready while the bread toasts........

There it is on toasted white bread and a little pasta salad.
Yummy......

And of course my favorite...

Probably the best bacon I've ever had.
Didn't even get the grill dirty other than clean out the dripping tray.

The 3 pups sure did like the left over bacon...

Went to my friends birthday a while back and he grilled up a bunch of dove breast wrapped in bacon. It was amazing.

That is the only way to eat dove breast.
We slice and stuff it with a slice of jalapeno, a little piece of cheddar, wrap it in bacon, stick a toothpick in it, and grill it.

Awesome..............just awesome..

We used to grill our quail that way as well...
But the quail in Texas are getting scare with the lack of rain and fire ants..

I just picked some of that seasoning up from the grocery store on Monday (on sale for $0.60). We liberally applied it to some fish and slapped it on my Weber Genesis. That stuff is awesome! We also do the Duke's mayo. I'll have to look for the pickled okra.

The only time I've ever cooked bacon on a grill the whole thing caught on fire, I'm surprised I didn't burn the house down. How did you keep the bacon grease from flaming up?

*** Edit *** Just read that you used indirect heat. So flame on one side, bacon on the other?
