Can anyone identify the knife from the Story of Eli?
I am planning on getting a machete-sized blade for my BOB and thought that knife was interesting. I'd at least like to know what it is.

Also, it seems that the random machete you would pick up at Wal-Mart is going to be a cheap blade and not keep its edge. Any suggestions on a quality blade large enough for brush/path clearing?

Just don't buy from BudK or similar "wall hanging" type blade companies.

Cold steel is great, hibben, etc.

ESEE formerly RAT Cutlery is coming out with a great Machete with Micarta scales....

above mentioned cold steel if it is the older CS made from Carbon V then I'd say yes,the new stuff is not better than the brands he steered you away from IMO... I had a pair of SRK's with AUS8 steel and snapped both between the blade & handle area....
I regret selling my SRK made from Carbon V steel ,I have baton limbs with out a hitch...
If your looking for a good machete and since ESEE is not out yet, Ontario made in USA found anywhere.
