I am of the opinion that in a self defense situation, if a gun is not loaded and within 5 ft of the user it does not, for all intents and purposes, exist.

I keep a 9mm in/on the nightstand, and my AR-15 about 10 feet away. Both are equipped with weapon lights.

I just feel safer knowing they are both there.

XD9 Tactical w/tritium sights and TLR-4 - on the headboard shelf by night, in the safe during the day. EDC is an XD9sc w/SA carry package, stays on the night stand at night. I'm more worried about a break in during the day when I'm out of the house, so all the other weapons are normally stored in a safe.

The XD by the bed. The fnx my wife keeps in her car. Then on her side when she sleeps. Will soon be a 12gauge to stay by the bedroom door.

Hey ... I didn't eat no stinking corn.
