for me: into chamber, into holster. Out of holster, out of chamber. Always. I like consistency in how I handle firearms.

When you read the many threads on here about one in chamber, one of the common reassurances is that a good holster covers the trigger. So logic follows that there is more risk when that trigger is uncovered.

Time to rack slide from holster is too much - racking could be as much or more as drawing, so racking would double the total time. However, time to rack slide is not nearly as significant compared to getting gun from a safe.

Every accessible firearm in my home is loaded and chambered..
It is easier to remember that than which one is loaded and which one isn't..

Condition one - one in each nightstand beside the bed.

I have the exact same set up as the OP. I keep mine with one in the chamber.

IMHO, an unloaded gun is either being cleaned, shown (rare) or is a rock.

When the first and second are finished or any other time, it is +1 for all.

Now if I could just get my fingers to work fast to open the Microvault (too fast = X, too slow = X). Maybe my combo is too complicated...but I have kids...

Heh, well I live alone for now but may be getting a room mate in the future. I enjoy my privacy and being able to be me, you learn to cherish that after being in close proximty to other dudes on a ship, but am not a big fan of paying for all the rent and utilities. To me, my gunvault combo is a good balance of speed/ease of entry and security. Probably going to leave the gun in condition I but I may also leave it in III and just use the extended mag. Only time will tell but I don't like the idea of going back and forth. That sounds WAY more dangerous than just picking one and sticking with it.

At night I keep my XDM in a bedside holster in the +1 status.

My safe is used "only" to store the firearms when nobody is home. My guns are aways ready either on my person or close by.

I really don't see the point for a bedside safe. (Unless, you live in one of the "communist" states where it's required by the oppressors.)

Btw; I have two kids.

But, it is IMPOSSIBLE for them to have access to my firearm when I'm wearing it; or when they are in bed asleep.
