If I'm dressed then yes...

I'f I am in my lounging around clothes in what I like to call "sleep pants" then no... but it is always near me within arms reach.

As for running around clearing the house...

yeah... If I come home to an open door I'm calling the police and probably leaving...or camping outside of the door behind cover and wait for either the police to arrive or somebody walking out of my place.

But I have the luxury knowing that only my stuff is at risk... I'm not risking my life for my stuff.

I work virtual office from home and most of the time alone. I may often be home at my desk in a robe. I normally do not slip my guns into the robe when I am sitting down as the forward facing pockets tend to cause the guns to point at my leg... not good. So I have a place which is literally at the same distance as my hip where I keep the guns and extra mags. If I am in a robe and leave my desk, a gun comes with me in my pocket.

If I am dressed, I carry... in the house... out of the house... everywhere legal. Somehow, someway I have a gun within arms reach all the time... except when I am in the shower. It is further away in that case. I assume that risk because I lock the door.

You never know when you are going to need your gun. When you need it there will probably not be time to think about where it is and run to go get it. You will need it right NOW.

I would feel real stupid if for any reason I did not have my gun and some whacko did me in. Unrestricted license to carry and I am caught unarmed. That's just dumb.

Personally, I'd clear the house, because its something I've practiced. Guess wanting to save my wife's life makes me a tool then. Oh well.
Alright I think your arguing about two different things. if I come home to my empty house I'm not clearing it. Clearing a house alone is stupid and dangerous. However if you feel that someones life is in immediate danger and that's your only option then at that point I would say it becomes a judgement call I am certainly not going to fault anyone for trying thier best to save a life. but just remember that if you screw it up your gonna be on the 6 o clock news making us all look like mall ninja's.

As to the OP: I don't get to carry at work so my gun is with me until I leave in the morning and get it back on as soon as I get home I carry everywhere I can. I just don't see why not the whole reason I got the permit was because I was tired of grabbing my gun and taking it here and there. now I just put it on and leave it alone. doesn't matter if I need to have it.. I've never so far needed to not have my gun. seems to me it doesn't really do anything on it's own. just rides around in it's holster... come to think of it.. sometimes it almost acts like it's just metal and polymer. hmmm

Usually pocket carry a P3AT all the time regardless if my regular CCW is with me or not. At home pocket carry works for me whether I am doing something in the garage, outside, or just being lazy. I always have a dedicated HD gun but I might not be in that room.

i like to put my XDSC9 on my belt and push the mower around the yard. Get some crazy looks from the neighbors. I always think about seeing on TV the cops chasing some bad guy through some neighborhood and flipping the car over in front of a house (HEY! is that my house?). If so i got a fresh cut yard and 16+1 JHP's for ya.

Always

It's not going to do you any good locked up in a safe, in your bedroom closet. Always carrying.

To answer the question though: Being a gun newbie I don't have my CPL yet, so I don't carry concealed outside the home and I don't have a locking holster to open carry in public - but at home I open carry just because I can.

The other day I was out on the deck grilling burgers with my XDm 45 on my hip thinking: What is more American than cooking red meat on a grill while open carrying??
