FWIW, I know a lot of people who are already boycotting Lowe's for bad service and hiring ignoramoses (sp?) for employees. I dread going because if I ever need help, I have to stand around waiting 30 minutes to an hour just to finally get to talk to someone who has no idea what they are talking about. There are a few good people who know their stuff, but otherwise Lowe's is a waste of time if you need to interact with anyone other than a cashier, which that is a whole other bucket of worms I won't get into. I won't bore you with my own personal stories of Lowe's "excellent" customer care.

I wish we had a Home Depot.

HOWEVER, I will say that my experience with Lowe's at the corporate level has been great. So maybe you will have some luck.

Any time I ever noticed a pistol on a guy, whether hidden or not, I just thought he was some kind of cop. It never bothered me at all.

In Texas, stores that do not want you to carry must post it by the entrance. There are specific guidelines on how it should be posted. If the sign is legit, then you can be arrested for tresspassing if you carry on their property. In the absence of a legit sign, a verbal request from the manager or security personnel is just as valid. I'm sorry you were asked to leave but I think they acted well in light of their policy. It is their choice to have such a policy. Before we go boycotting Lowe's and making them beg for us to come back to their stores, let's be reminded that concealed means concealed. Bend at the knees or reach up with the left arm.

Making a scene with a gun is a great way to spend time in a squad car. Just leave if you are asked to leave. Do not question it. For what its worth, stores have the right to not allow anyone into their place of business, for any reason.

Home Depot is just as bad, all kinds of people with no knowledge of construction or tools.

Most large stores and chains have anti-CCW policies, just to cover their butts from legal issues and to prevent their employee's from carrying.

I go back and forth on this. Lowes is closer but home depot is about a mile further away. Half the time I have to go both places to get everything I need.

I never seem smart enough to go to Ace hardware. I think they only hire people who know what they are doing.

Recently had to move electrical through a wall for my garden (all on timed watering system now) was so pissed from going both places and finding no one smart enough or able to help I went to Ace. Didn't make it 5 feet in the door before someone asked me what they could help me with. I explained and within 5 minutes had what I needed and was getting back in my vehicle. I think I spent 5-10% more but I was ok with it.

+1!!

Also, I'm 27 and have gone with my dad countless number of times to Ace. Every single time people know him by name. As they do many other customers. And each time they know exactly what to get for you.

The moment you flashed your pistol, even accidently, you were in the wrong unless your state allows open carry of firearms (doubtful from info in this post). The store acted responsibly if that was their policy by not causing a scene and offering you the choice of complying respectfully with their policy as interpreted by their manager and returning the firearm to your vehicle before doing any more shopping. You choice to leave and contact the main office is also a mature response. In the end, if one chooses to exercise their right to carry a concealed weapon, then they have a duty to keep that firearm concealed unless circumstances warrant its use in a lawful manner. Instead of being angry about getting busted for not concealing your weapon, think instead of ways to make sure this event doesn't occur again. Just my opinion.

I to have wondered about places you cannot carry. For instance in AL you cannot carry in a establishment that serves alcohol. I usually do , but was wondering does anyone out there carry a taser for these cases where you legally can't carry a firearm, but a taser is perfectly legal anywhere and doesn't classify as a firearm. I just want to know that me and my family have somthing to protect ourselves where ever we are.

a taser isn't legal everywhere. some cities, and some states don't allow them. also a taser could be considered a weapon... and I'm sure if someone really wanted to get pushy with you about it they could tell you that you are not allowed to carry a taser in their store. They could probably do that with pepper spray if they wanted.
