Thinking of a Florida non-resident CHL?
Then you might want to know their current turn around time is a MINIMUM of 90 days. I spoke to a lady in the licensing department because I had some questions pertaining to my own application (submitted in September), and she told me it was a minimum of 90 days. Therefore, if you are looking for a non-resident CHL, look elsewhere. I am already looking into scheduling my Texas resident CHL which I should have done from the very start.....
Oh, and BTW....I'm a newbie here!

The Florida and Utah permits allow you to carry in states that don't have reciprocity with Texas.
It took about 30 days for me to receive my Texas CHL. I mailed everything off the last week of November and received everything back the last week of December. This was all last year and I can't believe that I've been carrying for nearly a year now that I think about it.

Thanks for the welcome and replies. I originally went for the Florida CHL in hopes that my father would join me in the class. He is actually the one that motivated my newly growing gun collection. I figured the class would be reasonable for his schedule, and he ended up not going. Thus, I went alone.
I am now getting my Texas CHL. I'm going to the Irving gun show this weekend to do some research on class offerings, but I'd rather have both permits anyway. At least in Texas I can guarantee that they won't have any changes in gun legislation with the exception of them becoming a requirement for all citizens! Hahaha. Also, as kapt_krunch stated, reciprocity is an issue. I am going to be traveling quite a bit looking at properties all over the country. The more I can carry in, the better.

My wife and I got ours a couple of years ago and mine took 4 weeks and since the first set of fingerprints for my wife had to be redone, it took her 6 weeks.
Sorry not sure what they might be running now.

Welcome from Central Florida. I think the 90 day period is for people out of state. Here, in Florida, it is about a five week wait for the appoinment to have all the paperwork done at the Dept of Agriculture(local office). They do everything by computer, to include fingerprints and photo. You get your CCW in about 7 to 10 days after that.

Arizona is running about 2 weeks mailbox to mailbox for non-resident. As to how many additional states you get with FL or AZ or UT - about the same number of additional states, some variation in just which ones.
You should check out the map features at handgunlaw.us or usacarry.com that will show you what your permit plus additional ones cover.

There is no "Common Sense Gun Regulation". There is only unconstitutional gun restriction.
I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

In Louisiana, if you are a resident of Louisiana, you must have a Louisiana issued permit to carry concealed in Louisiana. They started that last year, I believe. You can still get a Florida non-resident if you want to, just so you can CC in the few states that Louisiana doesnt have reciprocity with. If you received a FL non-resident permit before the rule change, you can still use it until its time for your renewal.
