Workplace Concealment

Does anyone feel the need to tell anyone at work they are concealing? I'm sure most of you will probably say no based on some previous posts I've read, but maybe at least tell their main boss?

I have not checked my handbook at work yet (it's at home and no copies are in the office), but I'm unaware of the workplace rules on weapons or even what our building rules are on weapons. We rent out our office space so the workplace rules may not say it in the handbook, but the landlord may have rules on what can be brought in their building. I haven't seen any signs yet about guns posted on the building.

My dillema is should I approach my boss and discuss with her that I will be carrying in the near future (my CCW class is tonight), and discuss the weapons policy (about our company and the building) if there even is one? Or should I just read the handbook again and check to see if there is anything about weapons. Then use that as my deciding factor, and just not mention it at all to her?

I kind of have two different bosses because I bounce between two different departments daily. One of them told me when I was hired the guy before me brought a weapon to work, and in his words was "Don't get all crazy on us and start bringing handguns to work". So I'm assuming based on that it's alright to conceal at our workplace, but it seems like my other boss is a little uneasy about the idea of someone carrying at work.

Any other advice or input for workplace concealment?

If there are no signs on the building and nothing in your Employment Manual....why would you create an issue when there isn't one?

Subscribed.

I cc at work daily. Never asked the owner, or brought it up. No signs at the door, and I know other folks that do it as well.

The reason I've never brought it up is I don't want there to be an issue......

I never had the chance to carry at work as I worked in a sawmill but I carry 99% of the time now and the fewer people who know it the better IMHO. the last thing I would want is someone looking at me if something happens and making me the marked man before I can assess the situation.

Thanks everyone for all of your input and opinions. I guess it's also something to discuss with my instructor in a few hours.

Personally, I also think it's best to not tell anyone, but I also have this feeling I probably should at least discuss it with my main boss. I certainly wouldn't tell anyone else, but her. I understand the possible ramifications of her knowing. Worst case scenario she says it's against the rules, and I just have to leave it in the car. Right?

It's certainly a tough decision with multiple pros and cons for either side. More opinions are welcomed. Thanks everyone.

I've thought numerous times about asking - but I know the owner likes guns as well.

I always figured if he didn't want people carrying - he would put the sign on the doors.

Is it still illegal if there's no signs on the door, but it's in the manual? I don't think I ever got one.. lol

I know I am not allowed to per my employee manual but the fact that I am the boss and that my office has no exits which means I am trapped if someone attacks, makes me think about concealing.
