Concealed Carry Help

I will be getting my CCW in the mail in a week or 2. I am still new to CC so i need some direction. I have a full size XD 9 so i will need a new everyday carry gun and holster. 99% of the time I wear jeans w/ a t-shirt or polo (not tucked in) or athletic shorts. I am 6' 185lbs so i cant hide a bulky gun but i dont need a little pea shooter either. I was leaning towards something along the lines of a XD SC or m&p shield or bodyguard .380. It doesnt have to be a pocket carry but maybe a holster that will go on the wasteband of athletic shorts and jeans

What do you carry in similar dress?

What are some holsters to look at?

Thanks

Use the search in the forums and I bet you will find all the info you need. As far as holsters go, most here really enjoy using crossbreed for their every day CC. Check em out.

I have both the body guard and a shield. Id vote shield. If you could find an xds that would also be a viable option.

Holster wise, minotar, spartan, or crossbreed supertuck.
Pistol:
Still a bit bulky: G26, G19, XD sc.

What I would carry: keltec PF9, Kahr PM9,taurus 709,s&W shield,Ruger lc9.

As a matter of fact. I carry a PF9 95% of the time. During winter I might carry a XD service a few times but not all day.

Jeans won't be so much of an issue as far as gun size goes, just remember a good gun belt will make all the difference. The crossbreed supertuck is an excellent choice for that. But with athletic shorts, you don't have belt loops, right? The XD is gonna be wider and heavier than the other 2 guns. You need good support like with jeans to carry it comfortably. The shield is a single stack, and middle of the road in weight. The Bg380 is gonna be the lightest and smallest gun, but I'm not a fan of it, however, for either of those 2 guns, a remora sticky holster would probably be a good choice, no belt required and just kinda sticks between your waistmand and your skin. I own an xd40sc, and I don't carry it often, due to the weight. I carry the xds. The shield would get my vote and I'd do my best to make it work. I don't like the Bg380 because I don't like the double action, long trigger pull, and its too small for my big hands. Good luck in your decision.

The chances of having one holster are slim to none. They seem to breed like bunnies.

The ability to conceal a gun depends on 2 things the size of the grip in length and width. The barrel as it is in your pants makes little difference.

For athletic use, jogging biking the gym etc if you carry I like the smart carry or thunder wear. They are pouch type things and it sits at 12 o'clock over your groin ( does not point at your privates it's above and over ) the advantage is no belt needed and I can you elastic waist , no belt etc. I can also if I don't carry put my OC spray or some EDC stuff in it. This is a bit of a special purpose item but the best for active people I could find

For casual to work wear, I have settled on the N82 Tactical Pro. It seats pretty deep has great retention, and it fully covers the whole gun. Super comfort even with a full size gun. The shirt can go over or in the clip. I have the Crossbreed type and they work well, too. I prefer the single big clip to the double clip and the smaller horizontal footprint.

Appendix carry works well. It OS rare I use it but it's very comfortable and hides very well. I use High Noons mrSofty for it.

A must have is a good belt. I'd rather have a cheap holster and a good belt. Expect to pay $60.00 -$100.00 for a good one. They last forever and look good too.

A full size XD is no problem with jeans and tee shirt. CBST hides my .40 very easily. When you do the shorts a pocket gun WITH pocket holster to keep it upright.
