If someone is trying to disarm you is that not a threat to your person and grounds to defend yourself? If you are legal to begin with why would a LEO attempt to disarm you in the first place!

I thought after the confiscation of weapons in New Orleans post Katrina, they made a law that state a mayor can't do this anywhere. Or maybe this major circumvented the law by stating that only confiscate on people that are carrying and not in their homes.
Is this real? Is there any news about this?

I checked, RCW only allows the Governor to declare emergencies, not the Mayor of Seattle. The Mayor of Seattle's order is illegal and violates state law. Not the first time a Seattle Mayor has tried this. Previous Mayor Nickels' gun bans in parks and recreation facilities was declared illegal by Washington courts. The Washington Supreme Court denied to even consider Seattle's appeal of the lower court ruling.
Why hasn't there been any news of this?

It specifically states an area of the city, so it does not encompass the whole city, just the affected area. Also, it states that it is only for as long as the situation exists. Its unfortunate that permitted CCW firearms get lumped into that, but I like that the police are being given the ability to take weapons away from the vandals. Watching the news there are MANY people running around with sticks, beating people, cars, and businesses.

In what circumstances are law enforcement officers ever prohibited from disarming someone who is in the process of committing a crime? If it takes an executive order from a Mayor to give police the right to disarm criminals in the process of committing a crime, it's time for you to move somewhere else. There's no fixing that kind of stupid.

the way I read it and I could have totally misunderstood it seems they are looking to disarm everyone.
to me it doesn't sound like "in commission of a crime". it sounds like "if you have it we will take it" (unless its in your house or business).
if you have hoodlums running around making chaos, I would say leaving your gun at home is a mistake. I would also say cops disarming citizens during a riot and chaos is a huge mistake.

First, I agree.
Second, we are talking not just about the police here, but the SEATTLE police. They have been stripped of any power from all the lawsuits brought on by people that think if you shove a cop, they shouldn't push back.
Third, we have "Mayor McSchwinn", the guy that is doing everything possible to get rid of cars and parking in the city. Like Excalibur said, following in the footsteps of a mayor that, because two guys got into a fight and one had a gun that (ironically, "accidentally" went off, it wasn't brandished because of the fight) shot a bystander, tried to ban all guns from any park or public place.
I'd say it's past time for more than just a new mayor. But unfortunately, King county, because of the population, dictates the tone of the whole state, and will carry Obama (and just about any Dem) with an overwhelming majority this November.

They weren't even talking about firearms really, it was aimed (no pun intended) at pipes and sticks, which they were using to break windows. So in true Seattle form, we won't arrest you for breaking windows, we'll just take anything that can be used to break a window away from you, that'll solve the problem!
