Besides from what is above, regardless of any place of business or private property owner that does not have a sign posted and they find you are carrying and ask you to leave then you need to leave per their request.

Carry in Restaurants That Serve Alcohol
YES
Note: A “YES” above means you can carry into places like described below. “NO” means you can’t.
Handgunlaw.us definition of “Restaurant Carry” is carry in a restaurant that serves alcohol. Places
like Friday’s. Chili’s or Red Lobster. This may or may not mean the bar or the bar area of a
restaurant. But you can carry your firearm into a restaurant that serves alcohol and sit and eat
without consuming. Handgunlaw.us recommends you not sit at the Bar or in the Bar area of such
restaurants. In some states it is illegal to be in the Bar area of such restaurants. Handgunlaw.us
believes you should never consume alcohol when carrying your firearm. In some states it is illegal to
take even one drink while carrying a firearm. If you want further info on carrying in places that serve
alcohol check your state laws.

And that also is 100% correct. Look for facts and not what a officer claims. What he thinks may be incorrect or he has not gotten the notice of update yet. Also please.. if you have a issue or confrontation dont say well this guy off the internet posted this and that saying this is accepted.. Print this stuff out and have it your vehicle, or make a little cheat card and keep with you in your wallet.

I'm curious about your asking "homeland security guys" anything? Who exactly did you talk to.
DHS is an overarching organization. The agents in the field are members of ICE, CBP, TSA, etc. Despite what you see on TV, I don't think there is actually such a thing as a DHS agent. Nor are there NSA agents, nor NRO agents.

There is no "Common Sense Gun Regulation". There is only unconstitutional gun restriction.
I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

There is no federal law covering carrying firearms in establishments that sell alcohol. It's left up to the individual states. In Iowa, specifically, there is no restriction whatsoever. You can carry in bars, restaurants, convenience stores or anywhere else that sells or serves alcohol.
There is Iowa law which pertains to drinking and carrying. That is essentially the same limit as it is for driving, but IFC encourages anyone consuming any alcohol to not carry, regardless.
Also, Iowa doesn't have CCW law, we have Permit to Carry Weapons (PCW) law, so technically you can not only carry in places that sells or serves alcohol, but you can also open carry your weapon. Again, not advisable, we wouldn't encourage this, but under current Iowa law that is where the chips lie.
