"The notion that guns make us safer is a fallacy."

Tell that to the marines that just this week defended their home legally and lethally. Among countless others.

They aren't known as the Clinton News Network for nothing.

Haven't watched them for 20 years.

The error of their thought is huge.
Do guns make us safer? They cite statitics indicating those who carry guns are more likely to be shot than those who are unarmed. They do not mention that many of the armed people who are shot are gang-bangers and crimminals shooting one another.

As far as the stand your own ground statements that it encourages gun carriers to resort to deadly force before seeking other options. I can see their point with a minority of people, but I think most of us are reasonably, intelligent people, and if there is a way to extridite ourselves from a high threat- situation without resorting to gun violence we would take that option.
How many of us would want to seriously injure someone, or kill them; knowing that we would be facing some serious legal challenges because of our actions, when we can safely extridite ourselves from the situation.

Bill Cosby, I love you man, but you are wrong; guns are not the problem, people are the problem. I keep two handguns, loaded and in my safe, and neither one of them have jumped out of the safe on their own and shot anybody.

We do not know everything that happened in the Trevon / Zimmerman case; hopefully the truth will come out and reasonable citizens will make a judgement based on the facts of the case. I do believe this; if Zimmerman had not been carrying a firearm, then he would of most-likely been carrying a knife, and the results would have been the same, Trevon would have been seriously or mortally wounded because Zimmerman would of felt his life was in danger, and would have used deadly force to defend himself.

i saw that too, but i think they are trying to get the USA crime rate down to Chicago levels and it's all the guns fault! chicago is one of the safest places on earth now that no guns are allowed!

Most murders involve young men, often as both shooter and victim, as in the Trayvon Martin case. Young men, of course, often get in conflicts where they are threatening one another: that is, where both of them are trying to scare the other with "imminent great bodily harm." Florida's law may allow one of those chest-bumping young men, without consequence, to end the mutual dispute by shooting the other dead on the street. When it is over, the only witness may be the shooter, and his version of events will presumptively control. There is no morality in this rule.
False. Maybe CNN should actually read the law instead of making things up.
