IWB holster and dark-colored over-shirts, preferably with some sort of pattern. Shirts don't have to be baggy, but a looser fit helps printing issues. I like plaid type button-up shirts with the square cut bottom. Aka, box cut or bowling cut.

As the colder months are passing, this may not help as much. However, I know a guy with that gun who uses a shoulder holster and throws a jacket or full zip fleece over it. It conceals well.

I'm actually in the same boat. I'm looking into an IWB holster for my 1911, and liking the options from WhiteHatHolsters. Give them a look

Welcome to the Forum. Carrying CC will be a personal journey to what fits you best. It won't be figured out overnight and the time it takes to acquire the best holster for you along with best cover garments, during different seasons, could take months. CC veterans usually have several different kind of holsters for one pistol, with their carry scenario dictating the holster of the day. What works great for one person may not be best for you....or again, it may very well be.

Best of luck and enjoy your "walk" and learning experience.

Short sleeve button ups. I just got a couple hand-me-downs from my older brother that I'm excited to give a shot when I get an IWB

Thumbs up

pretty much what the other posters have said. Get a good IWB and GUN BELT. If you carry fullsize mags, try a holster that has good cant adjustment. The longer my mags, the more forward cant I need in the 4o'clock position. Dress around your gun, not the other way around. A good button up shortsleeve with a pattern works the best tucked, or untucked. IMHO.

The button-up I have does not have a pattern, but it is a fairly thick material. I'm curious if it will work

As others have said, patterned shirts work really well, and a good holster and belt is critical. I'm fairly new to CC also and am carrying a full frame XDm in a holster from https://clevelandsholsters.com/ and couldn't be happier with the quality. Its very similar to the Crossbreed but a few dollars cheaper.

I'm still using a nice stiff regular dress belt that I had hanging in my closet but had never worn. It's working okay, but I can already tell that its starting to lose its stiffness where my holster sits and I will be ordering a quality gun belt soon.
