I'm from Wisconsin and in mid January I sent in my Utah CC permit application. On January 23, my check cleared my local bank.

The application says

Upon completion of the background investigation, if it is determined that the criteria established by law has been met, the permit will be mailed to you. Please do not call to check the status of your permit; the review process may take up to 60 days.

Well, it's now been 66 days and counting since that check cleared.

Anyone else applied for the Utah permit lately? How long did it take for you to get yours?

My buddy has been waiting for almost 9 months. No reason why. I ask him about the status all he says is, "nothing yet."

You can check the Utah BCI web page and/or call them. They try to be helpful in answering questions. Utah Department of Public Safety

Still waiting on mine too... I get my hopes up on the off chance it might be in the mail when i check.... but i still have a while yet. From initial mailing... its been about 2 months, but i know the 60 starts from cash date. Waiting sucks

mailed early feb. Took two weeks for check to be posted on the 23rd of feb.

In Wisconsin you have to get a Wisconsin permit first. I applied on 1/13/2012 and it was issued 1/19/2012 and in my mailbox on 1/23/2012. I applied for Utah 1/24/2012 and got it issued 3/16/2012 and in the mail on the 3/21/2012.

A lot of the Wisconsin classes are including the Utah option so I think they are getting slammed. I was Wisconsin number 61,700+ Utah #616600+ if anyone wants to compare.

I applied last September and it was mailed to me 6 weeks later.

I mailed my packet in on February 16, and I jusr recieved my permit yesterday

This is the kind of information I was looking for. You applied for the Utah Permit on 1/24; my own permit application was sent earlier and my check cleared the bank on 1/23.

So something's wrong. Mine was there before yours, and you received yours before I've gotten mine.

Thanks for the info; it tells me something's out of whack. I'll call them on Monday.

I called the Utah office today to find out what was up.

Passed my background check, though apparently it took a long time for the FBI to decide I deserved to pass. Apparently that report didn't return from the FBI until March 29, while my check cleared on January 23rd. And that largely explains the delay.

Don't know why--the worst I've ever done is I have a few speeding tickets over the years.

Then there was an issue of whether my photo was available. You have to send in a passport-quality photo along with the app, but the young woman I spoke with didn't have it in the computer. She was going to check with someone else to see if they had the photo, and if not, she'd call or email me so I could email one to them.

I didn't receive the phone call/email, so presumably they have the photo and I can expect the permit in the mail in a few days.

Very strange. Makes me wonder why the FBI was so slow. Obviously I passed the BG check, but what on earth would have held them up?

Any ideas?
