Obtaining FL CCW as Minnesota Resident
I have a Minnesota carry permit. I work in Florida in the summers. I am already in Florida. I was wondering if I could take a Florida CCW class while i'm here or if I can only obtain permits in my resident state?

The Florida web site is very good. The Wisconsin course I took had range test so I have to get the finger prints and photo to send in oh and the 100.00 for the permit.

FL shall issue a permit to residents and non-residents. And since FL does not recognize MN's permit you'll need to get both if you want to carry in both states. The good news is that the FL permit is recognized in a lot more states than MN's.

Hello from Florida. Check out the Florida rules / requirements.
When you are in the state and have a certificate indicating proper training, call one of the regional offices and make an appointment (usually about 10 days to two weeks out), bring your checkbook to the appointment (no cash) and be prepared to write a check for $117, which covers all costs -- license fee, finger prints, and photo. You will be filling out your application on a computer - same questions to purchase a firearm - and the entire process should take about half an hour. Assuming no issues, you will receive your CWL in about two weeks. Good luck

Don't think you have to take another class. You just send in your certificate from MN and finger prints and money. I'm going to do the same thing from OH to be recognised in more states

You will have to take another class if your MN permit class did NOT have a firing portion. If it did, you're fine. You should just be able to use the same certificate that you used for your MN permit.
Good luck!

Im a MN resident and also have my FL permit. I just sent in the FL app, prints, and a copy of my MN completion certificate and the money of course and they mailed me a permit 5 weeks later or so. FL has lots of reciprocity or its a good one to get. Plus its good for 7 years - i think...

No you dont have to take a fl. CCW Class you have to have a firearms safety class that meets there requirements. Like Hunter safety course or something of that nature or an NRA Firearms class or some kind of training that is approved by them. If you took a NRA Basic Pistol course in any State and you have proof or certification stating such then you can apply for there permit to carry concealed. If you are close to a Regional Office I would go there. I went to Tallahassee and got mine 5 days later, you can have them mailed to different address than your home address. Just tell them you are working there in Fl. and you want one and they will mail them to your address where you are staying.
