I'll give ThomasA a break. He's at Tinker which is an Air Force Base. I'm retired Army personnel guy, and I double dog dare you to run in front of me at less than 400 meters and think you are gonna get away...
I your defense, I did train a female Major who, while looking right at me, with her m92 pointed downrange, did fire a round into the ground about 10' in front of her. We had to talk some more, but in the end, she qualified, so I understand the perception, its just not a complete fact.
Just for fun,
I'm qualified expert with:
M16, M92, M102, Austrian Steyr, M1 Garand, German Gewehr(rifle), Walther(pistol), and their machine gun(don't remember the #).
I've trained with the Army Marksmanship Training Unit and competed in the Army Triathlon(run, swim, shoot), placed third at Ft Jackson in a military triathlon using Kentucky windage(no adjustments allowed, after 5 practice shots).
Now, that's a bit much for your average HR guy, but what do I know, it was fun!

Im glad at least 1 states trust our service men and women! ha! If I were pres they would be automatically be allowed to carry in all 50 states with just their military ID...

Texas is the same way. While I'm the first one to get in line to allow 18-20 year olds to get CCW permits (I'm 19) I'm sort of against this type of legislation. Why should one need to be in the military to obtain a CCW if between 18 and 20. There are plenty of 18-20 year olds not in the military, like myself, who are just as responsible. Heck I have 2 carry permits. I'm glad to see more will be able to carry. Hopefully this will lead to FL switching their age to get a CCW to 18 but I do think this will hurt their reciprocity a bit.

Personally I think more states should be like North Dakota. ND has 2 "classes" of carry permits. One is very simple to obtain. It requires no training (other than an open book test), makes the applicant be 18 or older, get fingerprinted and allows many people to get a CCW at a moderately reasonable price (>$100). Their other class of permit is designed for maximum reciprocity and within the state of ND neither permit provides more "privileges". It requires someone to be 21, go through training, fingerprinting, and pretty much all the good stuff required to get max reciprocity (I don't think it requires live fire which hurts them in a few states). But still I'd like to see more states be like this.

I'd rather see more states recognize the second amendment.

I'm proud to be a resident of Florida. It's a great place to be a gun owner and to just live in general. Unfortunately there is not enough lawmakers like this and it feels like they are only prolonging the inevitable tougher gun restrictions.

I'd have to second this. I've been present when an Air Force Master Sergeant loaded a magazine with the bullets backwards. Likewise, in Afghanistan, an Air Force Master Sergeant didn't understand why his M9 kept going off in a gun clearing-barrel when he pulled the trigger. Someone had to walk up and clear the weapon for him. A buddy of mine is a Major in the Army Reserve (separated Active Duty as a Captain) and the last time he qualified, he shot the target in the next lane for his first string. I guess the numbers above the targets indicating which lane was not enough.

And these were people that have been in the military for a while and "qualified" more than once.

This is great news

If they are old enough to fight in our military they are old enough to defend themselves any other time

#1 The Army Basic Training & DEFINATELY USMC Boot Camp have greater emphasis on weapons training.

#2 The Army requires M16 Qual prior to deployment. At least I did, and I'm an RN, btw.

Or, we could go see a military recruiter...
I don't mean any disrespect. What you guys do is honorable. I think if you are old enough to join you are old enough drink, carry, all that. But just because you actually do join does not put you in a class where you are above others. What if FL decided that the average Joe, even if he's in his 40's, cannot get a CCW because well he decided not to serve? If we're going to let 18-20 year olds carry we must let all law abiding 18 years olds to carry.

They can serve in the military. We are 1% of americans that choose to serve and keep a draft away. We or they deserve something. Still cant drink and the VA Takes a life time to get any place with.
