CCW in Colorado Process? This is a discussion on CCW in Colorado Process? within the CCW Talk forums, part of the Use and Training category; Larimer County took 57 days from the time I submitted. Not too bad. Denver counties probably take a bit longer? Renewals are much quicker....

Of course, Boulder would take the entire 90 days ... but good to hear that they're nice about it ...

I know its pretty much a dead thread, but just in case anyone was interested. I got the call from Denise today. She said it would be sent out this week! Its been a long wait but 68 days is not to bad. I think the wife and I are gonna make a trip to the range to celibrate.

Cool! Congratulations.
That's interesting that Adams County sends them out. Here in Logan County, you have to go to the Sheriff's office and pick it up.

I applied for my concealed carry permit in Larimer County on May 21, 2012. 94 days after a response was sent to me, and day 96, today, August 25, 2012, I received the response. The letter said that I would not be receiving a CHP from the Larimer County Sheriffs office for the following reasons:
1. You have had previous negative contacts from law enforcement.
2. You have had a recent DUI.
The letter went on to say that if they issue me a permit I would be a potential harm to myself or others. Then it explained the appeal process.
OK, this does not make any sense what so ever!!
I have been arrested in the past, which is negative police contact. I did have a DUI, which was in June of 2008, I suppose that is recent???
I have purchased and owned many firearms in the past. The most recent purchase was 2 weeks ago. There is nothing preventing me from purchasing a firearm, nor is there anything preventing me from Open-Carrying one. How is adding a plastic card with my picture on it that allows me to conceal carry make me a threat?

Furthermore; I thought that Colorado is a Shall-Issue State, meaning that the Sheriff Shall Issue if the State criteria is met. A May-Issue state, is one that is based not only if the criteria is met, but also gives Sheriffs the ability to deny a permit for reasons beyond the state legality.
This makes Colorado a May-Issue State, NOT a Shall-Issue State, correct?
