Question Primary carry

So, right now I'm pretty much forced to carry my P238 for my primary carry pistol simply because I cannot count on my Ultra CDP to cycle reliably with defensive ammo. As much as I know the .380 will kill a man dead, my personal preference leads me to want a larger firearm for my primary. I'm torn between a SC or compact in 9, or a compact in .45.

Any suggestions on where to look?

Go shoot the guns you're looking at. And realize that the smaller the easier it is to conceal and you'll find the compact and sub compact Springfields shoot pretty much the same IMHO.

Anyone have any experience with the XD-45 Compact Tactical? I like the idea of the compact grip with the 5 inch barrel.

What loads is you Kimber choking on? How many rounds does it have thru it? It may just be a matter of finding the brand that works. Lots of good loads for the 45acp. The Rem GS has a very user friendly shape & feeds in even the most finicky 1911s IME.
I've never been a 380 guy, most guns are just not capable much past contact distance & low rnd count w/ poor stopping ability is not a good combo. I like the XDsubs, shot my friends 40 quite a bit, really a good shooter from contact to 25yds. I keep thinking I want a 45compact, great feeling gun, but my 1911PD is so thin & ligfht for ccw, but never can have enough guns.

I suggest the Xd45m 3.8 Pistol, the caliber is a proven man stopper and the length is good for concealed carry.
The least caliber I would carry would be the xd40m 3.8

Right now I am carrying the XDM45 Compact 3.8 mainly, but I still sometimes carry my XD9 SC when I feel like I need a smaller gun depending on what i am going to wear.

That is my conceal carry gun now. It was the 3.8 9mm, but the long handle of the 19+1 poked out a lot. So, I upgraded.

It's had probably around 500rds through it. It's the first series CDP handguns from Kimber. I've tried Hydra-shocks, Hornady XTP, Corbon DPX, some Corbon +Ps that I can't remember the name of. I'm almost ready to just throw Critical Defense in there and see if it works, even though I don't like the idea of carrying such a low grain count in a .45.

However that being said, it eats ANY FMJ like candy.
