CCW fingerprinting question
ive been debateing to get my ccw, the two things that is makeing me have a 2nd thought about it is. 1 haveing my fingerprints took and put into a national database, dont whant the gov haveing that type of information on hand for them. if my local sherifs dep can do a backgrond check and issue me 5 purchase permits a year, why should i half to send out more info just to verifi who i am, and prove further more i have never ever been in trouble.
2nd reason, my sherifs dep is a bunch of total A@@ hats, the local sherif has been geting into legal trouble with his job and i do not trust him or his deputies with anny more information than i half too.
i found out that i can go to va and get a non resdense licens and do it there. they still reqire fingerprints but someone told me they distory them after 90 days. i also can go throug the state of maine and get a non res- licens with no fingerprinting as long as i can prove my identy with my ss, adress where i curntly reside, and other doc.
what is you guys thoughts ????

I think you must have something to hide! If you want the permit, go by the rules...........

Just because you're parenoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you Nothing to hide here but I really don't trust many people or gov't agencies. I feel the same way. Going to do it anyway though

If you don't want to be checked out by whatever agencies for your CHL, don't apply - there's no way around it. As for your Sherriff, just wait until he vacates the position.

Y'all do realize CSI (and every other cop show/movie) is no where near reality of fingerprinting technology. I know of several cases locally (robberies, breaking and entering, assaults) where the cops don't even dust for prints. I don't understand why you care so much about the state having a copy of your prints. I don't really see where they can use it against you. What are you worried about? I'll admit, I don't like that I had to submit my prints (twice actually) but it was the old fashioned ink and paper and I don't see how they will ever be used to identify me.
I wonder how long it would really take to run fingerprints through a national database, assuming there is such a thing?

You're pretty paranoid.
I have my CHP. I carry. People ask me why I'm so paranoid that I carry a gun every day. I tell them "I carry, I have NOTHING to be paranoid about."
You should just get it, it'll change your life.

Had my finger prints taken over 20 years ago for work.
I have never done anything wrong so my fingerprints being on things is not a problem.
I don't trust anyone who is afraid of having their fingerprints on file.
Stand up, be an honest citizen and just do it.
