I am a woman, and I am so thankful for the way I was raised. I don't really remember the first time I shot a gun, because I was handling guns at a very early age. Probably by age 5. My Grandparents raised me, and my Grandfather had a huge collection of handguns & long guns. He shot them often, and cleaned them often. I was taught to respect them, and to use them, and to clean them. I have always owned firearms, and used them frequently. I've always carried a weapon on my person.

I'm happy for these women, and I hope they stick with it. Practice often, and get comfortable with their weapons. I've seen women at the range litterally shaking because they are so intimidated by the gun they are trying to learn to shoot. I hate that for them. This recent incident has been a wake up call for a lot of women here in Oklahoma. Home invasions are happening at an alarming rate. Women being victimized while in their cars is also on the rise. It doesn't just happen at night or in "bad" parts of town. I wish it hadn't taken something like this for these women to take control of their own self-defense, but I'm glad they are doing it none-the-less.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity for a woman who is comfortable around guns to make some money making sure other women are learning from someone they're comfortable around. Ever thought of checking into NRA instructor certification?

I was just thinking, after reading your post, how much more comfortable some women might be learning frmo someone like them. I know there are several classes that I've seen where they have "women only" classes that are taught by the female half a training team.

You wouldn't have to do it often, but I would imagine, once word got around that this type of class existed, you'd do pretty well.
