You should have recieved a book when you signed up for your ccw class; if you look in your book it should give you the Nebraska law concerning schools.

The book I got had the federal law only about school zones. I might have missed that part in the class. I looked up the state statutes and found what was correct. Only part I could get in trouble with is leaving a parked car on school grounds while cc'ing. Thanks for all the good replys.

LEO's are famous for giving out BAD legal advice.

Conceal instructors are sometimes no better.

In MI we have screwy laws. Can't have a gun on school property unless you are conceal licensed. You can't conceal carry in the school even with a conceal license, BUT, you can open carry with a conceal license.

Learn your state laws

I just finished the CCW class in NE last month and they spent a great deal of time describing the school rules. As was stated earlier, you can carry in the parking lot and driving through school zones. You just can't get out of the car on school grounds while carrying.

Yep Good to see a fellow Michiganian know this law. And I think LEOs and instructors are horrible places to get any legal advice. There are those out there who know their stuff but it seems like far too many don't.

I've posted some of my experiences with the local LEO on the mi forum... Just boggles the mind, including only LEO should be allowed to have guns. Forget about knowing the details of the Law. I got busted here for mis-stating the law about banks

Our past 2 or 3 governors (not Rick Snyder) used Michiganian instead of Michigander. There is a "Michiganian of the Year" award. Personally I hate the way Michigander sounds.
