Louisiana residents read this before getting CCW
If you are a resident of Louisiana you cannot show a CCW permit from any other state when stopped by a cop. Its no longer good. I moved here because the military said I had to, not by choice. I was going to get a FL permit but I guess there goes that idea...Oh well. Another reason to try and move.
Thoughts on why they would make this change, I'm guessing money.

Ryal, I must be blind, but I do admit my eyes tend to glaze over when reading legal-eze. Am I misreading the first sentence after the subtitle "RECIPROCITY"

Out of state residents with out of state permits are still good. However, LA residents must have an LA permit.
Under heading "News" at the top.
"Most significantly, as of August 15, 2011, Louisiana will no longer allow residents to present a permit issued by another state for carrying in this state."
Are you a LA resident, or just stationed there? I think you can maintain your out of state permit if your residence is still out of state.

What's the problem with having a permit from the state you live in/are a resident in? If you are active duty, and a resident of another state (use their drivers lic, car plates) you may get by with the out of state CCW permit. Ask the state police for a reading. But, why not just get LA's permit as well?

What state are you from? Why did you change your State of residency? If you changed it then it's on you!

Why is this an issue? I'm in Iowa and I have to have an Iowa CCW permit to carry in my home state. I'm allowed to get permits from other states as well, but I have to have one from my state too. No big deal, I think some of the other states (Utah for example) require me to have a home state permit before I'm able to get theirs.

What states do not require residents to use a CCW from their own state? KS is that way. Since I am a KS resident, I must get a KS CCW. It's the same for driver's licenses. When you move to a new state, you are required by law to get a DL from that state (with the exception of stationed miliatry personnel).

If you were planning on spending the money to get a FL permit, just get a LA permit instead. Or...
Since you are active duty military currently stationed in LA, just keep your residency in your home state and you can keep your other CCW and won't have to get a LA permit.
