I finally took my CHL class on May 28th at Lonestar Handgun and sent my packet in on June 1. I also ordered a Minotaur Neutral Cant holster and Ares Ranger Belt. I should be getting my holster today.  I've signed up for a defensive handgun class and may be able to sneak in another one before my CHL shows up.

I applied online And got my fingerprints done before taking my class. I took the class 7/9, put my checklist in the mail to Austin 7/11, now today (7/15) the website shows the receipt of my information. No telling how long it will take from here, but I'm not seeing the 5 week of no information that was reported earlier in this thread.
7/11/2011 - mailed packed
7/15/2011 - website shows receipt
7/19/2011 - background complete
7/20/2011 - manufacturing
7/23/2011 - mailed
7/29/2011 - plastic

My background check has been "under review" status for 5 weeks as of today. I've made 2 phone calls to see if any additional information is required from me with the response "It's a 60 day process" both times. I've seen on other forums that this is not the norm. Yesterday I contacted Governor Perry's office requesting assistance in obtaining a reason for the delay. They responded indicating they were going to have the head of TDPS and his staff look into it. We'll see if that helps speed things up a bit.

I've always found it weird that the CPL process in Washington is so much easier than Texas. Here the issuing authorities have 30 days to process the application. If nothing untoward comes up in those 30 days, they MUST issue the CPL. With mail time, your maximum wait is around 32 days, and in the smaller counties, people have gotten theirs in less than a week.

I just received a phone call from the TDPS and my background check has cleared and my CHL is being mailed tomorrow. It only took 2 days after requesting assistance from Governor Perry's office and waiting 5 weeks without progress. Thanks Governor Perry!

Received my Crossbreed IWB holster and my plastic in the mail the same day. The CHL came faster than I was thinking.
