News from the NRA

National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Bill Introduced In U.S. House Friday, February 25, 2011 Last week, H.R. 822, was introduced in the U.S. House by Representatives Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) and Heath Shuler (D-N.C.). The measure would allow any person with a valid state-issued concealed carry permit to carry a concealed firearm in any state that issues concealed firearm permits, or that does not prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms. A state's laws governing where concealed firearms may be carried would apply within its borders. The bill also applies to Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and U.S. territories.
H.R. 822 would not create a federal licensing system. Rather, it would require the states to recognize each others' carry permits, just as they recognize drivers' licenses and carry permits held by armored car guards. Rep. Stearns has introduced such legislation since 1995.

I'm down for this. After reading it, it comes off as a well thought out bill with consideration for States Rights (which I am a big fan of). I hope it passes because then I could carry if I got to any US Virgin Island. Wouldn't want it on my snorkeling trips but going into town I might. I got lost in a section of St. Thomas that was near the "tourist" area but was definitly NOT a "tourist" hangout. Man did I get some looks that said, "you need to be leaving this area now buddy!" Needless to say, if I go back and again (and get lost) then I could have my EDC gun with me if this thing passes.
