As I stated in another thread, I haven't been in a post office in years. However, I will admit that I have on occasion ordered a beer with my meal in a restaurant. Technically that's not forbidden, but TX law says we may not carry while we're intoxicated. Problem is, the law doesn't define "intoxicated." Is it the 0.08% blood alcohol level that defines DWI? According to my CHL instructor buddy, it's up to the police and the DA to decide.

should never drink alcohol before going to post office to lick stamps - the glue won't stick as well

Sure we do.
PENAL CODE
TITLE 10. OFFENSES AGAINST PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, AND MORALS
CHAPTER 49. INTOXICATION AND ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE OFFENSES
Sec. 49.01. DEFINITIONS.
(1) "Alcohol concentration" means the number of grams of alcohol per:
(A) 210 liters of breath;
(B) 100 milliliters of blood; or
(C) 67 milliliters of urine.
(2) "Intoxicated" means:
(A) not having the normal use of mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol, a controlled substance, a drug, a dangerous drug, a combination of two or more of those substances, or any other substance into the body; or
(B) having an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more.
and from the DPS web site for CCW;
According to the Texas Penal Code, it is unlawful for an individual who is intoxicated to carry a handgun. It is important to note that the Penal Code defines “intoxicated” as not having the normal use of mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol, a controlled substance, a drug, a dangerous drug, a combination of two or more of those substances, or any other substance in the body. Additionally, the Penal Code considers having an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher to constitute intoxication.

The worst I've done was drink while carrying. In VA, you can legally CC in a restaurant or bar, but you're not allowed to consume alcohol. Not even thinking about it I had 2 beers at dinner. It didn't even click until I got halfway through the first one.

I have had my secured gun in my car every time I enter the post office. The way I read that article that's a no go?
Anyone with another source that contradicts this one?

I cannot find anything, including the article posted here, that says it is illegal AT THIS MOMENT to keep a firearm inside your car while at a post office. That article dealt with an Atlanta Georgia case and nowhere did I read that it said keeping it in your car is now illegal. I understood it to be that some WANT it that way though.
It is definitely not legal to carry a firearm INTO a post office.

I try to avoid going to places that I can't carry... including restaurants that serve alcohol... which is extremely hard to do, but I prefer to be armed at all times.
