You didn't go into the show "as a leo". You went as a civilian.

So, when a soldier is on leave he is not considered a soldier anymore?

And the felon wasn't there as a felon, but as a citizen.

i guess maybe it would depend if said soldier "could care less" if he or she knowingly watched a wanted enemy of the USA run away or not ?

FWIW, my grandfather is a former WWII pilot and POW and my dad enlisted during Vietnam and served on a carrier. I have not served but I am very thankful for those that have.

no, sorry but they don't loose felon status just because they are not commiting a crime at the present time.

And as he said the Felon was wanted by at least his agency, if not others.

A police officer is off duty but that doesn't make him automatically turn into a civilian as soon as he leaves the station or takes off his uniform.

good point! when a gun changes hands it should be unloaded and then confirmed before handing it to the other person and then the person who recived the gun should confirm its unloaded. doing just that simple precaution sould save lots of lives.

also everytime the gun leaves you hand you need to check it when you pick it back up, even if you just set it on the table for a second. doing this would also save lives.

if you do those two simple things 100% of the time your odds of having a ND or the other person having one is SO much lower

Yes. I recall reading a very sad story here (I don't remember who posted it, and I am not trying to call them out) from an XD Talk member. He told us about practicing dry firing his gun at the TV while he was watching it. He said he put the gun down on the coffee table, and after a short time, picked it up and pointed it at his (or his GF's dog?). He pulled the trigger and ND'ed at the dog. He forgot he had loaded it. I could tell he felt bad. Stupid mistake. Careless. I know I am not above making a mistake like that. People have these brain farts all the time. Sometimes they can be deadly.

Safety reminders are a good thing and can save lives.

As I understand it, there are two types of people who typically have NDs - those with zero knowledge of guns and therefore don't know any better and those with a lot of experience of guns and therefore should, but get careless.

Whenever I hand someone a gun - a habit I try and avoid - I do so with the action open. Whenever I am handed a gun, I check the chamber first to see if it is loaded - if it takes a detachable box magazine, I remove said magazine and then check it. When I am in a gunshop and an employee hands me a gun they always check it first and hand it to me with the action open and I (after wishing I could afford it) play with it a little and then hand it back with the action open.

Cops are on duty 24 hours a day. If you are off duty and you're at the stop and rob (7/11) buying something and someone comes in robbing the place you have to be careful and you are a cop. Be a good witness and a living one. We're required to carry on or off duty.

Yes, I've seen these card tables where they have people stand out and unload in the open. It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen, the general public unholstering and clearing right there. They need a safe area with a bullet trap or sand barrel, anyone with any training knows this is so.

I don't go to gun shows anymore but if I did I'd leave the CCW gun in the car OR I'd just wear it and deny having it.

The concept an off duty LEO has to unload and zip his gun is stupid as hell.

I do understand why they have these rules, but they execute them terribly.

I have been to many in MN they never check or ask but they do have signs. If you have a permit in MN you know how big of a joke that is
