This thread answered questions for me.

I'm 6'2" and 290. Kind of a big stocky guy. Back in the day when I was 200 lbs I used to just Mexican carry a 1911.

Guess I need to hit the CCW class as soon as my schedule and their schedule match up.

I'm 6'4" around 280 and wear the 5.11 tactical shirt, a little IWB, and the SA holster when I can cover.

"Damn it! Where did I put my gun!?"

Eureka! A Man-Purse!

Actually, I've seriously considered this.

(...and then I wake up and realize that I live in the same California county as Berkeley...and know that Paris Hilton is more likely to become a Nun than me getting a CCW permit...)

Big guys usually have a good little pocket in the small of thier back where you can easily fit a IWB holster, thats what I do ant it works well.
NO, NO, NO! Do not carry your gun in a sob, heavy or not. Some of you may have read my rant on this subject before. If so, then you know everytime I read something like this, I feel it is my duty to comment.

You do not want anything pressing against or near your spine. You may do it for 5 or even 10yrs. without a problem, but don't be surprised when you start having back problems. Problems that could result in surgery that, I can guarantee you from personal experience you do not want. Your life will be screwed up forever.

Figure out another position for it, lose the weight or use a different type of holster; just don't carry it against your spine.

I have had 4 surgeries, 3 of which are fusions. I was in le and other factors were part of it. Two handcuff cases that were on the back of my belt played a large part tho. As it is, even tho retired, my back has been hurting for the last 2 months more than normal (it always hurts). Monday I will hopefully find out if I have more damaged disks or not.

Trust me, you do NOT want to wear a sob holster.
