^^^ haha, likewise, I hadn't seen the vtr before. Either way, I believe the tactical is the cheapest option of the 3 and will not be any less accurate than its more expensive counterparts.

I guess before I post I should do some research and know exactly what I'm talking about with model numbers and everything huh? Silly me I thought they were both Remington 700 forgive me, but thanks for the correction.

Excellent gun, you'll be very happy with it. A pic of mine is bellow. It's got a cheap Centerpoint 4x16 (not a bad little scope, got another on my son's .17 HMR) on it, but I just got a Bushnell 10x Tactical w/.1 mil turrets, waiting on new rings from Midway right now. The Centerpoint will go on my wife's new Stevens 200 in .223 when it gets here. I've got plans to put it in a Bell & Carlson M40 stock in the not too distant future. Hope you enjoy it, I really like mine.

i just think anything past a 20" in a .308 Win is asking for inconsistency problems.

I've been eyeing one of those myself. One of the few rifles of it's kind available for us lefties. I just wish it was magazine fed. If I got one I'd have to do a stock swap on it. Very Nice.

I picked up one last month and just put on the base and rings tonight. The Redfield scope I ordered is backordered for about 2 weeks.
I've always wanted one! Now to get some more match grade ammo!

I picked up the SPS varmint in January for $529 and it is an unbelievable rifle for the money. I took a chance and topped it with a Hawke scope, 6.5-20 tactical model ($429). First day at the range it shot 5 three shot groups that averaged .566" with Federal 168gr. GMM. The guy next to me had a Zeiss Conquest of the same power and we both agreed there was almost no difference between the scopes, other than $800 in price.
As for break-in, I got quite a bit of copper fouling the first couple of times out. Make sure you have a bottle of Sweets with you. I patched every 10 rounds for the first hundred.
