Not really. The berdan priming makes them more difficult to work with, and (in my experience) the few folks who care enough about 54R accuracy to work up handloads will use new components. I usually save or sell my brass, but steel 54R goes either in the trash or the recycle bin.

I have a lot of the Surplus spent ammo and thought some reloaders might need it. I don't want to just throw it away.

Depends on what the scrap brass price is in your area.

Oh ok, I was thinking the primer might be an issue but was not sure.

I don't think they can reload the steel because of the expansion of the cartridge compared to brass.
Very nice gun btw.

steel is hard on the reloading dies.. it CAN be done at the expense of your dies and drastically shortening their life span.. but not recommended

A lot of 54r surplus tells you not to reload it. I don't recommend it.

I've been saving the brass from the new manufacture 7.62 x 54R that I use for hunting. It's boxer primed. One day I will start reloading and plan to give it a try. I still keep the surplus stuff for its intrinsic value as brass. I'm sure its worth something to a scrap dealer.

I've got a refurbished recrowned and counter bored laminate stock 1942 (Izzy) 91/30. The thing is a beast. I'm hoping to get it to the range soon to set it up at 100yds. So far I've only been able to set it up at short ranges. Should be enough to get me on paper and I'll take it from there. Congrats on your new rifle.
