Question German Mauser ????????????

i have just recently found out that there is a Mauser 8mm(i belive it to be 8mm) in the family. (i believe it to be all matching but haven't seen to say for sure)

I would like some info about it from those of you that have one or have worked with one?

I knew there was a German bayonet that my dad has. well come to find out the bayonet may go to the gun..

Both items were brought back from WW2 by my great grandfather. there are some disarmed rocket(small), a helmet (i think i saw), and a German youth knife (well used) that also got brought back.

Im trying to get my uncle to get it out so i can get it cleaned up.

Are 8mm ammunition hard to find??

EDIT: when i get pics of stuff i'll post

All matching 8mm Mausers are selling for over a grand on Gun Broker. I have a mostly matching 8mm and I enjoy shooting it. 8mm Mauser is pretty pricey though. I just can't afford to shoot it very often.
