......And another contender enters the picture.....
What do you think about this one?
FN PBR XP in .308, 24"
Harris 6-9in swivel and notched bipod
Leupold Mark 2 4x12x40 mildot with moa turrets
Burris Extreme Tactical 1'' rings
Butler Creek lens covers
Can trade an extra XD and some cash ($750) for this one.
Seems like a pretty good package, and in .308

I'd say it sounds good.
I'd rather pay less in cash but the rifle new is going between $950-$1300. The cheapest I have seen that scope is $600ish. So, if it is used you are getting about $1200-$1400 worth of gun.
I still think you would be better off buying a cheaper Savage or Remington, though still very capable rifles, and piecing together the kit you need for it and still come out cheaper. Considering you paid what?...$500-$600 for the XD and are giving the seller $750. But, that scope is a good one and expensive but honestly, if it was not part of the deal I would not have given it a second thought and declined the deal.

I got my XD Tactical for $400 (guy won it at a IDPA raffle and didn't need it), so I was in it $1150).
After tons of research and advice, I went with the FN PBR XP. Can't wait to shoot it! Thank you everyone!!!!

Good looking rifle. Can't really tell from the pics but is the barrel fluted?

it has a medium-heavy fluted barrel. I guess that's standard on all of the FN PBR XP's

IMO it's really silly to base any of your decision of what ammo 'will be more available when the shtf".
That's like saying "Hey, everybody likes milk and bread, and it's common, so it will be easy to find when the shtf"
Bottom line is that when the shtf, what you have is what you get. If you come upon a dead body/department store/whatever that is suspiciously loaded full of ammo like Fallout 3, either you aren't going to find **** because someone else already has, or you'll find their ammo along with their gun. Then you choose to take their gun and ammo, or keep your gun and ammo.
Choose ammunition that is affordable, effective on humans and medium-size game, and light enough weight that you can carry as much as you feel like you need. And if you're THAT concerned with it, go with a compound bow and arrows + accurate .45 handgun. You can always reuse the arrows.
