I'm new to 50BMG, what are your thoughts on the Holmes plans? What barrel length is recommended, plans say it's your choice.
I'm a retired gunsmith and machinist, have lathe, mill, grinders, etc.
Any help appreciated.

"They say that most gun fights are maybe, max, 4 shots. You know what, I dont know what the gun fight is going to consist of so I am going to go on worst case senerio which means speed reload. I dont set myself up for when things go right, I set myself up for when things go wrong." Chris Costa

I don't recommend it.

More powder than a hand grenade setting by your face.

Do you trust your abilities to build and properly heat treat to hold the pressures?

I will build one using my own plans, but will not publish plans on the internet.
