If you replace the muzzle brake with one from ArmaLite or K&P, you will reduce recoil to similar to a 20 guage shotgun. I know my Shorty kicks much harder than my AR-50 with 800 grain brass solids over 250 grains of Reloder50. Typically I refrain from 800's in my State Arms Shorty (barrel longer than AR-50) and shoot 750 grain AMAX instead, just to reduce felt recoil. I have an ArmaLite muzzle brake for it, but barrel needs re-threading for installation.
