I think you should take what I told you in email and go with what you got for now... Buying all these things before you get your lower or even have more experience shooting these rifles is a bad move. You might buy all these things and find yourself with things that you realize don't fit your style.

If you "must" buy now, and know that you want more than one rifle then think about it this way...

Have at least one AR that is set up for close quarter shooting and an AR that has an optic for some reach. With that said, buy a red dot for the close quarters shooting... My suggestion would be something from Aimpoint, you can find some of them over on the EE section of ar15.com. The TA31F that you just bought off of me will do for your further away shots. But if you also decide to get an AR for far out shooting then you'll want a little bit more magnification. Something from the Burris line will do, but if you want top notch stuff then look at S&B, IOR, NightForce, and Leupold.

But seriously, I'd hold off on buying all these things until you can get your rifle in its entire form and get some trigger time to see what you like to do.

Thank you Stewie, that is excellent advice. I will not be able to purchase an AR lower part for at least 3 years. I want to make sure I have these uppers ready for the arrival of my first lower.

Which Aimpoint would you recommend?

Personally, I like the micros. I've had the ML3, M4, M4s and now the Micro T-1... I've sold both my M4 and M4s and have replaced it with the Micros, I've also sold one of my ML3s and will be replacing that with a Micro as well.

BTW, let your friend know to check his email for the total of those weapon lights and once I receive payment, I'll mail them out the same day.

yes

Right now you are buying things on a whim, with no rhyme or reason except that "you want them".

Wow this thread has been a hoot! I think biggerX, Wild Rice, and Doty should all get together and polish each others "guns".

I am fine with the idea. However, I am new to AR's so I will have let the experts Doty and WildRice lead the project. Just don't let Doty put the lower together, from the other thread, he seems not to know how to follow picture instructions.

Mvician would be a fine group leader as he seems to be an expert in all area's of the AR platform.
