What are reasonable prices now? This is a discussion on What are reasonable prices now? within the AR Talk forums, part of the Long Gun Talk category; I've seen Colt complete uppers for $950, LMT's for $850.
I see stripped lowers for $280 on gunbroker.
WTF is up with this? *sigh* Guess ...

Don't even look at gun broker. You'll probably pay twice as much for a t-shirt with a gun on it
Most distributors are still selling at "normal" prices, or haven't raised them too much. I ordered a RRA complete upper in November, and it's already here...and I paid the normal price, not the inflated one.

Joey, you ordered straight up from RRA?
hmm ... I might have to consider building from the "ground up."
edit:
uhm ... CMMG. Whats a decent upper config? I'm thinking 14.5" + a nifty hider. Maybe M4 upper? $50 cheaper
Should I order it w/handguards or just order the guards online???

Yeah...well, my FFL did. Also ordered a few stipped lowers (I think Mega and Stag?), those are still a ways out...and a Stag upper is still MIA.
I won't say for sure that you'll get yours as soon, but RRA shipped that upper half about 4 months before they said they were. So either everyone is vastly over stating wait times, or I got lucky and ordered it before it got too bad.

Glad I bought my 2 Colt 6920 uppers last year for $550 with carry handle and $500 for one without.
Also picked up my LMT upper last year complete for $435
I see stripped lowers for $280 on gunbroker.

WTF is up ? Panic buying and supply/demand. What is left is commanding HIGH prices.

It sounds like the standard CYA time frame. They give you an insane wait time then when they catch up and it's earlier than they promised, you are happy!!! I'm a service tech and we do that sometimes to "soften" the wait time on some of our projects. BTW I agree prices are crazy right now...hopefully it'll calm down soon!!!

Check out essential arms. You can get a stripped lower for less than $90, and an LPK for $65.
catalog2-3
It will take a few weeks before they ship it, but unless you can find somebody who's got one on the shelf, you're going to be waiting, no matter WHO you order from.

I dont mind the wait ...
What're the thoughts on order from the CMMG site?
Is essential arms a decent make for a stripped & LPK?

They make a good product. No idea on their wait time. Call 'em up and see.
Just pick a roll mark you like, and order one. If a given roll mark is worth the extra money to you, go for it. Otherwise, just order whatever you can get the best price on, and find a different hobby to keep you distracted for the next couple of months.
