RRA or S&W?

This is a discussion on RRA or S&W? within the AR Talk forums, part of the Long Gun Talk category; All RRA kool-aid aside, the RRA is a better deal financially if it is a complete lower....

Rra!

Rock River Arms! Their 2 stage trigger assy. and Quality workmanship makes this an easy decision!
I don't know WHO makes S&W's Lowers, probabaly Bushmaster. But I know that S&W doesn't make them. RRA DOES make theirs. In The USA too!

So from your post I can infer that a S&W lower was made by Bushmaster outside of the United States?

$250 sounds like a good price to me. I have a "few" RR's and they have served me well. The trigger is good also. Not sure who makes the lowers for S&W but RR doesn't actually cast their own, at least they didn't 3 or 4 years ago.

Actually, up until recently the same company that makes RRA lowers made S&W lowers (CMT). Regardless of that, they all end up coming from the same forging houses anyway and they're pretty much all running the same CNC programs to put the lowers out the door.

A lower is a Lower they all serve the same function and are both going be nearly identical (except for the roll mark of course) unless the roll mark makes a difference to you then go for the RRA

I personally prefer the stags but im not picky when it comes to the lower. receiver.

JMO YMMV

Well I was going to go with the RRA because it seemed like a better deal than my other option (the S&W) but are you telling me that I can be cool and get a good deal?
