For close range, does it really matter if I use 55-68gr or 68+? I usually only hear about problems with 1/9 and 72gr keyholing at 30+ yards, and that sort of distance I guess wouldn't matter if I wanted to get the good stuff for self defense/home protection.

I'm learning, slowly but surely.

Fragmentation is different for the 75gr vs. the 68gr. More fragmentation with the 75gr. TAP than the 68gr. BTHP. At in-house distances, keyholing may not be an issue, but you still want more mass to cause more fragmentation/tissue damage.
